PUP CABINET IN BELMOPAN ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE IN EDUCATION!

Produced by the Belize Development Trust

Just my opinion of course! The drive to centralization of Education is a step backward. This leads to rigidity, conformity and loss of individual initiative and innovative opportunity.

What really should be done, is to form town and district School Boards of ELECTED volunteers. Send them GRANT money to run the schools, salaries and plants and let them get on with it. Subsequent specialized grants to handle things like classroom upgrades and that sort of thing. Nobody is going to be more strict about what and how they learn than local parents. Nor husband scarce funds more resourcefully.

Centralization now being promoted by the PUP Cabinet, is a step back into the dark ages. The role of a National Government, is STANDARDS. Nothing else! No controls otherwise, or interference. Let locals do it!

s The current plan is wrong and we here are going down on the record in opposition to centralization of this Educational bureaucracy.
