REPORT #279 May 2000
COMPUTER TECHNICAL COURSES NOW AVAILABLE TO ALL HIGH SCHOOLS IN BELIZE!

Produced by the Belize Development Trust

The internet is expanding exponentially daily. It is a hard thing to keep up with all the reams of services and data. There is now a whole lot of free and paid type educational training via the internet available to Belizean students. Microsoft courses are one thing. If you take a look at the FREE Training Courses at:

http://www.freeskills.com

You will notice how you can teach yourself Novell, C++ programming and many other things in the Science field of computers. It's all FREE! If you have a computer and an internet connection you can afford?

Some subjects should probably be backed up with an instructor on the local scene. In that regard, there are many Computer Scientists in the Software and Computer Science area of India, that are now being hired all over the world. The ads are on-line in the hundreds. Belize could probably hire 6 Computer Science degree graduates to come to Belize as instructors from India and then make them available to students courses in computer programming and technology. Put one in Punta Gorda, one in Belmopan, one in Belize City, one in Orange Walk and one in Corozal and see what you get in a year or two?

Education is moving on-line faster than even the most optimistic futuristic forecaster ever dreamed of. Pretty soon, we are going to be shutting down libraries and formal colleges. Buildings may be unnecessary in twelve more years. The next generation is going to be computer literate from kindergarden age. That is not that far away. Only one generation. When they are, things will never be the same again!
