REPORT #387 September 2000
THE ECONOMIC CASE FOR SMALL FAMILY LIGHT INDUSTRY BUSINESSES IN BELIZE!

Produced by the Belize Development Trust

by "Terry Warburton"
$50 MILLION FOR BELIZE!

60,000 acres of citrus
30,000 acres of sugar cane
about 5,200 acres for shrimp

This is the amount of acres to bring in $50,000,000 BZ

The UMI company of Eastlake, Ohio makes trumpets and other musical instruments. Their factory sits on 4 acres of land and brings in $200,000,000 BZ in sales.

While agriculture is important in any economy, the sheer amount of dollars per acre achieved by basic light manufacturing should not be ignored in the Belize of the future. Sure would open up a lot of land for the Milperos

Just my view!
