-- For want of a little legislative changes, Belize remains stagnant and mediocre.----- Comment e.g.: You cannot produce and sell electricity as a small producer to the national grid, due to a privatized electricity monopoly. "As for the power law in Belize: I did some research on it at one time. You can run what you want on your own land for your home or business...but you can't cross property lines or "street" grids. That is what keeps wind and solar out...the equipment is so expensive that only the wealthy can afford it (the import duties are high of course). It would be very affordable at the community level, but that is precisely what the law does not allow. (of course, there is that little fine print at the end of the statute that says the "Minister" or his designee can decide that your home power system is "not safe" and confiscate it....but its hard to believe that they would want to look THAT stupid, by running around with the Power Cops to seize everybody's little home generators....)" - from Susan the lawyer- ------Editor: BELIEVE IT! If it is any of the two major political parties, the PUP or the UDP!----------------
