but he left you your house and dock intact. those beautiful mangroves by your dock are winter home for a group of Yellow crowned Night heron I've been watching for about 6 seasons. Their number has increased from 5 to 12 in the years I've been watching.
I worry that someone might not see the value and beauty of this mangrove patch and cut it down. I've noticed it collects a lot of drifting trash and have thought more than once of adopting it.

If I have any say in it, the mangroves will be around for a very long time. You are right, the house and dock survived virtually unscathed. We are very fortunate that there wasn't more damage. I wish the same were true for others on the island and the mainland.
