Cabinet Meeting: 4th March, 2008
Belmopan - 05 March, 2008
Cabinet met in regular session on Tuesday, March 4th, 2008.
Ministers were briefed on the situation of 17 Cuban nationals who came ashore at Ambergris Caye. The Cubans informed Belizean authorities that they thought they had come ashore on the coast of the Republic of Honduras. Cabinet was informed that the occupants of the boat are detained at Price Barracks, Ladyville, while the BDF repairs the boat. When the repairs are completed the Cuban nationals will leave Belize.
This was posted on the other thread .
I just got back from town and heard from some Cubans in San Pedro that in fact the 17 Cubans are in Hattiville and The Cuban Embassy is insisting they be deported. I'm going to keep this going until i find out where they are and check the Boat this evening to see if its been retrieved and is being repaired. I would hate to believe fluff to pacify the heat of the issue is being thrown out.
Do any of you know what Hattivile is like , ever seen it or heard about what its like? I hope they aren't really there and this is a rumor.
International press are going to kick in soon and the incident is going global . would be an embarrassment for Belize if these People aren't being treated humane.
