I've had some really good meals there, but the last couple of times I and friends thought quality had rather dropped off. Is it back to its original self?

Sad that the competition in town has closed after just a few short months. We Brits love Indian food (the official national dish of England is now Chicken Tikka Massala) but in my experience Americans generally prefer Chinese food and don't really take to Indian.

I don't know what you mean. There are very few Indian (or related) restaurants in the USA compared with Chinese - a far lower proportion than can be found in the UK. A generalisation perhaps, but a statistically valid one. There are probably historical reasons for this, as India was a colony of Great Britain for a long time and many people from the sub-continent moved to Britain. I didn't say that ALL Americans prefer Chinese food to Indian, nor that ALL Brits like Indian food.
