We met John Paul when he first came to San Pedro as a young teenager over 10 years ago. John became an excellent diver and he always looked out for my wife and daughters and for all the divers he guided. He was a fine young man and a good friend. He was loving, caring and he had a good heart. He had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. John was like a son to Laura and I, and like a brother to our daughters. We will miss him dearly and he will always be in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
With Love,

[Re: Marty]
Dear Editor of Ambergris Today, I was diving on Ambergris Caye last year and became friendly with John Paul Saldivar. I am very shocked and saddened to hear of his brutal death this week. I am sending you some photographs that I took of John Paul. I think they illustrate his real personality and I am happy for you to use them in your publication if you wish to use them in your articles around his unfortunate and untimely death. All best wishes, Kitty
