Ancient Panama City was one of the strongholds of Spanish power...and gold. Pirate Henry Morgan attacked Panama City after a grueling march from the Carribean, through dense mosquito and disease shrouded jungles. Captain Morgan made off with all of the Spanish gold...saving one "muddy" gold religious statue. That statue is still in Panama City, safe and sound in a Church. These are pictures of the remaining ruins of ancient Panama City.
