At the docks in Santa Barbara, California we would have a wonderful show after dark. The moored boats would turn off all their lights except those pointed into the sea water. The flying fish would go crazy and the Seals even more crazy gorging on the fish. What a sight. I've yet to see any flying fish here. Where might one look for them?

When I go fishing from AC I always do a Deepsea trip. Just past the reef if you are trolling ( as I do for wahoo) you will see many , many Flying fish.

Harriette, I'm so surprised you've never seen flying fish out there before. I've often seen them on the cruise out and/or back to the Blue Hole dive day. Of course, we aren't able to tell whether they are the banded species that is the subject of this thread, or the little blue shiny ones (which is what I believe I've seen).
