1200 horse power is quite common??? I have been to the Marina in Fort Luauderdale many times and have never seen a boat with 4 300 hors power engines attached to the ass end.

Having lived in Ft Lauderdale ( for 12 years) and passed under the 17th street Bridge, both the old , and the new one,I passed many a boat with 4/300HP strapped to thier " Ass end". The Marina ? What Marina did you go to " many times"? There are at least 15 Marina's in a 10 block area of the Intercoastal waterway that encompasses Ft.Lauderdale's waterways. There are also Many many private residences with thier own docks.The fact that you have never seen one does not mean I haven't.

Why would anyone want that sort of power on s hull that's patently not capable of going very fast?

Frank and I have been to the Miami Boat Show two years in a row and will be there this year also. There are a lot of boats there with 4-5 h-u-g-e motors on them.

Im not sure that Peter knows the diff between a dinghy and a battleship
