Thanks Elbert I actually got Harry to eat today. I broke dog pellets into 3 or 4 pieces and handfed him. He gobbled up ten pieces of dog food then went for a walk around the house.

I saw a turtle (or tortoise) at the Lady bug nursery yesterday. But it looked a bit bigger than the ones in the photo - of course I can't really tell scale from the pix.
We have a treasure of marine turtles in the sea at Ambergris but we also have indigenous Tortoise (land guys) Scuba lady has Tortiose, they only drink water not live in it.
but now I'm not sure looking at them closer . hers might be those river turtles. There was a big fire in the back a few years ago and some tortoise ran to the front I kept one for a few days. he wasn't striped like hers and didn't swim at all! I think these are the ones the Garafuna make the drums out of.
SP - you are right - that's why they are at risk of extinction. Elbert - I did a lot of research and do know that they are river turtles but not sure just exactly which kind. I was able to examine Harry's underside and it does look like he has two hinges whereas Bonnie had only one. Amanda - The ones at Lady Bug are much larger and I think Catherine said they belong to Mary Hawthorn.
