George Parham

George passed away last night, our thoughts are with Marie and of the full life he had.... They always made the Sands one great place to hang out. George's files are responsible for a lot of historical information and photographs on this website. Love you guys, peace to George, and hugs to Marie....

Another island icon's light has faded - but will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace George. Condolences to the family - especially Ms Marie.

I had a wild & Crazy golf cart ride with George & Marie - we got onto the beach in town and couldn't find a way off. We laughed or a$$e$ off. Peace be with you.

George was a great guy! I met him for the first time twelve years ago and he told me all about his life, his service during the war and about his family's history on Ambergis Caye - he was more San Pedrano than anyone else here! At one time took me for 2 hours in his golf cart and showed me all his projects around the island and I told him: "That's going to take another lifetime for you..." - he chuckeled. He did always recognise me, spite his age until the last time I saw him here and always had something new to tell me about San Pedro.
Have a great journey, my friend.

Farewell to George Parham

The Parham family owned several coconut plantations and provided employment to many Sanpedranos in the coconut industry which was vibrant from 1900 to 1940. George and his wife owned large parcels of land along the north coast of Ambergris Caye and sold many parcels of land that today form part of our vibrant tourism and hotel accommodation industry of the Island. George built the Sands Hotel right in the Center of the town where he and his wife Mary spent the latter part of his life as active members of this community.
