Mavado, a No Show, U.S. Cancels US VISA Concert was Cancelled

[Linked Image] It was the most anticipated dancehall concert scheduled for the Easter week-end Holy Saturday night with "Mavado live in Placencia" but it had to cancel. According to the promoter, DJ Ritchie, on Wednesday the United States through its Embassy in Jamaica announced that they were cancelling Mavado's US Visa - along with the visas of other Billboard name Jamaican artists such as Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Jah Cure. A search of the internet reports confirm the cancellations of Visas which we take to mean Mavado and the other artists could not travel to or through the United States. Promoter DJ Ritchie Galvez claims that Mavado and the other artists were also barred from leaving Jamaica. Because of the Easter rush they could neither secure flight accommodations to Belize through CanCun, Cuba nor Panama. Ritchie said that by Thursday they had made private arrangements to fly from Jamaica directly to Belize but by this time a memo was circulated that he was wanted for interrogation and he would not be allowed to leave Jamaica. In a nut shell that was the reason given for the no show although he is rescheduling the event for a future date. The United States is in Dispute over a wanted man in the US that Jamaican Authorities are refusing to hand over and as a result. They are putting the pressure on other Jamaican artist to fly into the US or in transit. DJ Ritchie advises everyone who bought a Mavado ticket to get a refund at the ticket agent where you bought it. If you have problems getting your refund for tickets purchased for the concert- you can contact DJ Ritchie directly at 620-6890.
