Are you between the ages of eight and twelve years old? Do you have a keen interest in painting? Then you'd be interested in the fifteenth annual Mexican Children Painting Contest, which is open to Belizean students. This year the competition is being held under the theme "How do you imagine Tourist Destinations in Mexico?" The prize is a one week trip to Mexico City, all expenses paid. Marcelino Miranda of the Mexican Embassy told us more.

"This is a, an interesting contest because children can participate by drawing or painting with any kind of material on a cardboard or on a piece of paper and um the year's theme has to be about a tourist destination in Mexico. So children can, Belize children can design whatever they want about any em memory that they have about tourist destination in Mexico could be in Quintanaroo, could be Cancun, could be any archaeological site or any special architectural building or whatever they want to design. And the other interesting feature about this contest is the prize. The prize going to be a trip to Mexico for seven days, and not only a ticket, a flight ticket for the winner but also with either of the parents of a guardian and additionally food expenses and accommodations are going to be paid for. They are going to join in Mexico all the Central American and Caribbean Children who are participating in this contest."

The deadline for the submission of entries is May second. You can submit your entries to the Embassy of Mexico in Belmopan, the Institute of Mexico in Belize City or the Mexican Honorary Consulate in Corozal Town. You are also invited to contact the Embassy for more information on the rules and regulations of the contest.
