How about we all let the local town fathers and the Planning Committee continue the development on Ambergris Caye and Belize? They only have been doing it since the island was reclaimed from the Blakes. Seems like a good job so far, or none of the newcomers would be here? Maybe these folks are smarter than you think.

Loreto also has a major highway (Mex 1) running past it making it logistically possible for such a development.

Corona Steve's planning an 8-lane down from Mexico, and an international airport on Ambergris Caye!

Why not just cut a channel through the reef for cruise ship traffic and then build some cruise ship piers? I’m thinking the Mexican government would approve of the idea based on their history. Cozumel Paradise Reef . I feel fortunate to have dived the reef prior to it becoming a pier. Change is inevitable but I also feel fortunate to have memories of the hand ferry.

i dont think they could never cut a channel through the reef, i think the entrada san pedro cut is the biggest but i dont think a cruise ship could fit.so that gives me still some hope

Silly Monkey, the water's not deep enough that's why they currently use English Caye Channel it's 100' deep. Also we happen to live in Belize not Mexico, the Mexican government may approve but what good would it do them.
