Well surprise of all surprises we got our phoneline back this afternoon
and
we are online. Everyone is fine and I assume since your not here that Ed
was able to get in contact with you. I didn't know how else to contact
you.
I hear that he was over here that same day after I talked to him I hope
that he found everything in order.

So when are you coming back? The only places with power and is front
street I think that most of front street now has phones and water as well
but as for everything else there isn't much. You don't have any water, or
power at your place not to mention that of course there is no phone.

This morning till we were online at 3 I was vounteering, cooking all
morning
and then delivering to the back areas that have no food, the devistation
is
really great and the priorities should be to those people, not to our
phone
lines, it makes me feel really guilty that there is all these hungry
people,
children and everyones priority is front street.

Everyone is just fine. Meagan and Shaggy lost everything in there apt,
but
are staying with her mom and will be ok. they went to Cayo with greg to
Meagan's dad's while the hurricane was here. Ampy is fine too, there was
damage to her house, but they will be ok. Greg's house had minor damage
and
when it's fixed in a day or two he will be going to Canada for a couple of
weeks. He's now looking at at least six weeks before he has power.

I want to try to prepare you somewhat for what you will see when you get
here, but it's hard. The main thing is that alot of the vegitaion is
gone.
Trees and shrubs are still standing but are brown and it all looks very
dead. The dockside bar and grill is gone. The dock that we used to swim
off of by your place is gone. North of town suffered alot of damage but I
haven't been up there yet, there is no ferry anymore so you have to hire a
boat to travel up there. The main thing is that there is a lot of garbage
eveywhere, debris that people have piled up and left on the roadside and
the
garbage collectors can't keep up. The smell is different too, the sea has
yet to settle out but should be by the end of the week. South of town,
Bayon Bay area was also hard hit, but I haven't been able to get down
there,
travelling is really hard that's why it's hard to properly distribute
food. >>

Marty, we have people from CyberCoffee out looking for the yet unaccounted
for people and helping all they can with communications! This, sent by
Peggy
at CyberCoffee some days ago, may explain the smell people have been
talking
about which is typical of hurricane areas.:>) I can't wait to get back
Monday
and get everything first hand, but it sounds like cleanup and rebuild time
to
me, and we should all be okay in a few weeks!:>)
Eleanor from CyberCoffee Internet Belize.

Please post this note so people KNOW it's safe on that island. We need
some
precautions, esp. in the worst hit areas - that's normal in a 'crisis'.
ANYONE can meet at CyberCoffee and plan from there - it's in the center of
town across from Fido's and is there for precisely a time like this - as
well
as for tourists to send back pix of what they saw underwater when they've
been diving.:>) See you soon. Can't wait to get home.
Love and hugs to ALL the hard working people on and off of the island
during
this difficult time! Eleanor

thank you ellie! This is Beth. Dante is still down there. I'll be down probably next weekend to bring supplies and food, and to assess our damage. Glad you are well.
