Less than 2 weeks till we're there!! Want to bring in some vodka/scotch from home. Can we pack it, carry it on, or does it have to come from an airport duty-free shop? Thanx

I always carry it on the plane in my back pack. Never had a problem.

We just got back but brought in 7 bottles of wine between two of us (all the way from Canada). You don't need to necessarily purchase from duty free. Same as LaurieMar, we just had it in our carryon bags and went through the "Yes I have something to declare" line at Belize International. Wasn't a problem at all. Was sent right on through.

Thanks to you both. Frannie, you said you just got back...what's the situation with credit card use?

Whenever I read these posts about bringing in liquor I can't help but to wonder, why?

From what I have read, if you want something like Vodka or Scotch, you are FAR better off to bring it from home. Rum seemed to be the only top notch hard liquor I have read of that is good locally.

ML: I am into my red wine and like to have a bottle or two in my room. Other than that, no particular reason. Hey, I spent many years living in the Napa Valley! Very spoiled by the world's finest vinos.

Last time we were down the "best" vodka was VERY expensive and tasted like battery acid! After that, we didn't dare try the local scotch. Belikin is great, but I'm not into beer.
