In short,

Salaries are adjusted.

Exports are priced in US$ anyway (tourism is an export product).

More focus on consumption of local products by all.

Cuts down on imports (long overdue).

More attractive for foreign investment.

Lets just say for arguement that the Bz dollar drops 4 to 1 compared to the us,, I believe that the price in the store in BZ dollars will double. Now a lot of us get paid in BZ dollars, so it stands to reason that we will loose. Now if you are holding a large amount of BZ dollars in your bank account presently at 2 to 1 and it drops to 4 to 1, it does not paint a pretty picture. Also I do not believe that salaries will be adjusted. More focus on consumption of local products would be a good thing as long as the retailers play the game, but I doubt it. Just curious but what imports would see cut down? Definetily more attractive for foreign investment..but hard times till it happens. just my view.

since we're hijacked (Pedro paid me to do this).....

ok, 4 to 1, so $US150/BZ300 for a room night goes to $US150/BZ600. Salaries will be adjusted for the hotel workers reflecting this. T-shirt $US10/BZ20 to $US10/BZ40, the gift shop workers salary is adjusted.

Papayas, citrus, bananas (the other 25% of the economy) now fethces twice as much in $US.

For those with large $BZ holding will feel it. Where are the banks assets?

When restocking shelves, pantries and hotel store rooms, the local produced products will be more attractive. People visit Belize to eat Belizean products, I would hope. More profits and better playing fields for local producers.

Not all roses, but not all lemons either.

I don't agree with papashine that salaries won't be adjusted. They'd have to adjust to keep people on the job.
