I spent alot of time listening (mostly) on this message board and then I had the opportunity to experience Ambergris Caye. What I'm left with most is the spirit of the place. Not only is there something very magical about the island, but more than most places where I have traveled, the people were really special. Not to sound corny, but everyone that we met were so kind and interesting and had stories of interest, more so than the usual which left you with such good feelings. Even though I was nailed with pica pica and had to do a round of steriods along with my husband we both still loved the place. We are not novice travelers either. We have been lucky to go many places, but there is something very special and magical about Belize. For sure the marine life is magical. I swam with skools of fish, feeling like I was one of them, we caught, prepared and took pleasure in eating our catch. We went to Hammock House on Sunday evening and heard great music and knew on any given night it could be an amazing experience. We knew the owner/ singer was living his dream. There were many people like him. Living there dream. Maybe that is what the magic was about. I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe some of you know......

Hola Robino: You've caught the bug too. It's a feeling that consumes many of us. Belize is a magical place and holds a special place in our lives and in our hearts. I'm glad you were able to go and live the dream. I hope you keep returning so you can capture that feeling time and time again!

We were there the night the lights went out (which I'm sure is not unusual). It was Sunday 4/24. We took our kids there the next day as we went exploring in a golf cart. We sat there, had a drink and talked to the bartender. She gave our kids frozen snicker bars. That type of generousity was everywhere; part of the majic I'm talking about that came from everyone. You don't feel those acts of kindness over and over again in one experience.

robino,

Speaking of "acts of kindness", thanks for whipping up a batch Pina Coladas for us when we stopped by to meet you. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family.
Coincidentaly, we were at Hammock House the following Sunday. And the lights went out then too.

Hey Mark from N.H.
It was also a pleasure meet you and your group and what a surprise. It was a new experience picking up someone from a message board! Hope your party also had a great experience. Did you find the guy you were looking for to drop off the maple syrup?
