Very interesting read about Bob and his boat. Also interesting reading another perspective about the goings on with GOB. confused

Absolutely enthralling and, I might add, provocative with respect to the purported actions and lack thereof by the GOB.
Thanks so much for the posting.

This is most distressing for Belize. Perhaps all interested paries (local cruisers and ex cruisers) should form some sort of assistance group for visiting boats in distress.

Realistically, there was nothing that anyone in Belize, government included could have done to remove that boat from the reef intact and without doing much more damage to the reef. It would take a very large, long reach crane barge...the closest probably located in Louisianna. Cost of that , if the boat could last for several weeks until the crane arrived, would be far more than the value of the boat.
Most people overestimate the capabilities of the Government of Belize... about the same as a small town in the US.

Yup, that's probably exactly what the powers that be were thinking...

If that was the case, then why refuse help from another country? If Belize was not prepared to do what was necessary to safe the cruiser and his boat, why the resistance to having it done by others?

Not trying to start an argument or get into one, I'm just wondering what am I missing here?
