I have been cave tubing twice in Belize, both times with Tom Greenwood and his son. Good value, great tour, small groups (no cruise folks). Make reservations directly with him for a $53US/person rate.

OK so cave tubing isn't zip-lining on the thrill factor scale. But it is a very enjoyable activity nonetheless. I liked the walk into the jungle when the guides showed us many interesting things along the way. The cool clear water is lovely after the hot hike.

Good point, about staying closeby. Make an overnight or two in the area (spend that money opn the hotel rather than the transportation costs.) Then you can see some Mayan ruins while you're there. San Ignacio, or Benque. We liked the Mopan River Resort, although (I think) they have a 3 night minimum, and close at certain times of the year. They have a website if you are interested.

I've been told on several occasions to plan something "When the cruise ships are NOT in port" and yet no one has been able to tell me how to find out when the cruise ships are OUT and when the cruise ships are IN. I'd like to find that website Otteralum mentioned if anyone knows how to find it (Yes, Rykat, I did a search using several terms, including belize cruise schedule etc.)

To find out what days the ships are in or not in, ask your tour operator - s/he will know or be able to find out. I believe it's seasonal.

There are 3 or more ship-free days each week.

ATM = Actun Tunichel Muknal. A very large sacrificial cave with lots of Mayan relics. Wet & dry so you do a lot of swimming, crawling, hiking to get through it. It's the highlight of many people's trips to Belize. Not really available as a day trip from San Pedro. Best done from the mainland
