Please use this message board to help keep all our friends who are not here in Belize updated on what is happening here on the island. Many of us may loose telephone and some internet access.
About half my friends believe we are going to get a big hit and the other half think not.
We can not take our pets off the island with us, so many of us are staying.
I, for one, have two dogs that I would not consider abandoning. I am on the 2nd floor of a two story cement block house with a cement roof. Four other people are staying on here and I have good friends 'just up the road.' We are very committed to taking care of each other and we do not depend on the government to do any thing for us.
I am sending this web address to my children and suggest that others do the same so they can feel connected.
cool

Tropic and Maya Island have stopped taking reservations and are boarding passengers first come first served. They are running extra planes to accomodate the crowds.
The water taxis have already evacuated over 2,000 people and are taking passengers first come first served. Presently there are about 100 people waiting. The boats are not on a schedule but load and leave immediately.
Reef Radio (Channel 7 on cable) is reporting on the situation.

Prayers and thoughts are with each and every one of you. Jesse, thanks for the uppdate and please keep doing so...there are many of us concerned about everyone's safety. Here in the States, we aren't getting any info on how things are in BZ. Stay safe, all.

Hotels are telling the tourists they should leave the island (sorry for all that planned a July vacay - too early for hurricanes!). Am staying in my apt. (concrete!!!) along with the others in Mi Casa Apts and like Harriet cannot leave my 3 pets here. Very few boats left on the front side of the island already this morning as most of them have already moved. Likewise most of the banners, flags, tables, chairs or anything else not solidly battaned (spelling?) down is gone - looks kind of strange walking down the beach.

Hang in there Guys!! for some this is old info for others here goes..

I have been thru 13 Hurricanes and suggest you make a safe room..(no windows) put the matresses against the interior walls of the safe room if it gets hairy out there.DO NOT put Generators Inside the House I don't care how ventilated you think it is!fill the tub with water for flushing toilets and get 1 gallon of water per person per day if possible in gallon jugs.hopefully you have a hurricane kit prepared.make sure you have enough of your meds and put anything you absolutely need in that safe room.this just touchs on it but we were without power for 8 days with Frances last year and 6 days with Jeanne..Hang in their Friends and pray it hits north!

freeze the water Jugs and you can use them as a cooler for your food but try to buy non perishable stuff the jugs will keep stuff cold and give you cool water to drink.
