There is Lalas Bird Sanctuary about a 1/2 mile south of town. It's near either Coral Bay Village or Caribbean Villas.

Try and talk your way into the water plant. The lagoons are full of birds and wildlife.

Sheri,
Forget the cart and get Daniel at Tanisha Tours to take you on a birding/wildlife trip around the back side.

thanks for the suggestions. simon, where is the water plant and is there a guard there that I might 'talk' into it?

You need a boat and someone who knows the area

You would be welcomed to come back on the property past San Pedrito on the lagoon side of the airstrip. Species such as Rosetta Spoonbills, great Blue Hurons, Snowy Egrets, Pelicans, Osprey, and many others occupy the property. The roads are now flooded out...but it is a nice place to watch birds. We also have a couple of well behaved Crocks.

My eyes may have been deceiving me, but I thought I saw some spoonbills beside the AC airstrip as my Tropicair flight last week. Definitely pink, and I did not have time to visit Jet at BZE, so it was not drink-induced.

You're right. 6 or more roseate spoonbills have been grazing in the ponds near Pedros place.
