I'm not sure if anyone here would even have any insight on this but since I've never had to deal with getting shots, I'm not even sure where to begin asking...

My boyfriend does not have health insurance currently. Are there places in the US where people can get these shots at a reasonable cost without insurance?

Thanks everyone! laugh

There are no required immunizations for entry to Belize, but not being a medical doctor or knowing your medical history, we suggest you check with your doctor.

If you are going to get Hep A -- ask your doctor -- but you may as well get Hep B. They are ususally supplied together in a single dose called "Twinrix."

I will have a Belikin -- put it on klcman's tab.

Check with your local city/county or even state public health department for information. Your discussion led me to get my tetanus shot there this morning - for $10! I checked on the Hep shots, too, even though I'm getting the TwinRix privately, and the price of those were $20 - $35 per dose. Granted, these are IL prices, but public health clinics in general are usually less expensive than private docs and/or have sliding fees based on income.

And, if the person giving the shot is experienced, it DOESN'T HURT A BIT!!!

Cakelee - You're right. I actually found a Travel Clinic nearby, where I can get tetanus & Hep A fo r $65 [includes $25 clinic fee] , but my insurance doesn't cover either shots if I go through my regular doctor

*scratches head* That's the strangest thing.

Let's not even get the insurance discussion started... My husband and I both have health care backgrounds, and we don't understand it ourselves sometimes!

Yeah I'm a little baffled about that.

I wish we didn't have to get shots at all. what a pain in the rear end this all is~!
