Is the mosquito situation any better in January than in Sept. and Oct.? So many reviews that I've read from travelers recently have mentioned the mosquitos that I am concerned about them ruining our stay.

Yes, the mosquito situation will be improved as a result of the cooler weather and the occasional front from the north.

I've been consumed alive by the critters, but it has *never* ruined my vacation! But, I've learned my lesson and I spray up whenever I'm outside now. But it's more the tiny sand fleas or whatever they are that really love my ankles.

I would bring repellent and first aid no matter what. Then if they do bother you, you're prepared. But, I am ultra-sensitive to bites so I tend to be cautious (I swell up, all that fun stuff).
