I have read in the online papers that Nov. 18 is National Garifuna Day. It looks like there is a lot going on in Dangriga and some things going on in San Pedro as well. What do they do in San Pedro?

Now that you bring it up, I looked it up in both newspapers online. I would like to go to the pagent, but the papers have different days and locations for the pagent. Can anyone who knows clarify? Simon??? And is there anything else going on in SP for the holiday?

AMBERGRIS TODAY-Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations on Saturday, November 19. The pageant takes place tonight at the Lion’s Den at 7p.m.

"During the pageant the ladies will be judged on how eloquent they are in the Garinagu language, how well they perform the traditional dances and their overall knowledge of the culture."

Holiday is Nov 19, the festivities begin late afternoon Nov 18 with ceremonies, all night drumming, dancing, eating and drinking. Best place-Dangriga, Hopkins, Seine Bight, Punta Gorda. Wonderful.
