Hi everyone. My three friends and I are traveling to Cancun Jan. 2 and we want to go to san pedro. Does the water taxi (thunderbolt travels) only leave for san pedro once a day at 7am? if this is the case, how difficult do you think it will be to find a hotel in either chetumal or corozal at around midnight? we wouldn't be able to take a bus from cancun until after 4pm.

we arrived in Chetumal about that time, and got a hotel easily we then headed over to Corozal in the morning - (we flew) not sure you will be able to get a bus there by 7.00am. Just looked at Mayaisland air and a one way flight is $40 (same as thunderbolt) adn you can get a 10.30am flight - doesnt look like the thunderbolt is running a regular schedule a the moment! You get an amazing view flying and it's MUCH quicker! Check our Tropic air too - although i imagine they will be about the same price. Have fun - Hilary

We were in Corozal a week or so ago. Flights are just as cheap (if not cheaper) than the boat. Maya Island is doing half price for cash tickets, so it can be very affordable.
