I'm no expert, and have just visual estimates from probably 40 trips by each shore. Also I'm not sure what you mean by "right off". But I'll give it a go. On the south, depths seem to stay under 10 out at least 100yds., although there are some "holes. About half or 2/3s of the way to long key there is a deeper channel of ? depth. On the east, the beach runs out probably 30-80', then there's a slight channel(with bonefish). The north end appears deeper, but I doubt you can find 20' anywhere all the way to Caye Caulker. The west side again seems to be similar, although some dredging took place to accomodate their harbor. Still I've gone pretty much WNW a mile ot two and never DIDN'T see the bottom. Hope this helps.

WOW!! krehfish-Only depth I ever looked for was on the golf course and the mosquitos seemed to be experts at finding it.

Hope you don't mind that I printed your answer as I would consider you an expert!!! Thanks man. cool

Last Sunday when the gang was there to play, a M O N S T E R private yacht was pulling in to the harbor.
A guy drove up and asked Chris to move his boat to make room for it and Josh said, " That boat could use Chris' boat as a bumper." They must have a deep channel.

Cruising Guide to Belize and Mexico's Caribbean Coast, including Guatemala's Rio Dulce (Paperback)
by Freya Rauscher

Will give you all the info on depths around Belize. You'll need to search the Internet as it's out of publication for now. Can't find mine right now or I'd give them to you.

Can't say much about the guides. I know that Skinny and I ran aground between Caye Chapel and Caye Caulker one night. I had to get out and push our skiff. Three feet max at the north end of Caulker that night. Must have been low tide. As always in those waters, be aware of the shallows. I've been ten miles off shore and had to push.
