Hey Yall

Well for the Cayes that was a close one! We only had squalls with only very short spurts of wind up to about 70mph. The waves only came up about 15 feet from the normal waterline. Minimal dock damage nothing serious here. Placencia, Seine Bight and Hopkins are another story...Placencia was hit directly damaging every house on the peninsula, roofs, wall,homes and trees destoyed. We were there last week and all the homes are quaint wooden homes on stilts. Seine Bight and Hopkins are also small villages on the coast and reportable and unnoticeable also. As for Punta Gorda, the roads and airstrip are not passable so we will have to wait for news.
2 boats are confirmed sunk, one killing 16 passangers, the "Wave Dancer" and overnight dive boat, and a TMM Catamaran, reporting only 1 missing. Many of the people here in San Pedro, are going down to help in relief, as we all did the same thing last year, and know the extent of devastation due to the wooden homes and the wrath of the sea. It is quite a somber mood on the island because our country is so small, everyone is family.
I tell you one thing about living in the tropics is it keeps you on your toes, and the possibility of losing everything makes you realize what is really important, friends, family and the gift of life.
