Reports from NEMO via Love FM states that there are 8,000 people homeless in Southern Belize.

Urgent requirements include:

Potable water.

Food. Including rice, flour, beans and baby supplies such as formula.

Clothing.

Bedding.

Flash lights, batteries etc.

Those of you that live overseas may be able to help quickly with cash donations. We have experienced in the past that attempts to supply goods, machinery, clothing etc. can often be hampered by red tape.

We NEED to dig deep.

One little 3 year old girl in San Pedro has broken her Piggy Bank and donated $20 to the relief effort. Let us follow her example.

We wish to be in your minds and in your prayers.

Amanda --

Thanks for putting this info up. I tried to reply before, but must have done something wrong.

We would like to help, but I would prefer not to use the Red Cross. Something more direct. do you know what is available?

I think that Marty's secure donation website is the way to go....getting goods shipped there could be a frustrating process...when Keith showed his ugly head we sent packages to friends in SP and it took forever to get there.

We are taking online donations at:
https://secure.nameservers.com/ambergriscaye.com/placencia/

anything besides cash is very cumbersome. especially with new security restrictions on planes. can't get stuff on as easy as we used to be able to in extra cargo space.

clothes are hugely bulky and heavy and expensive to ship, and they will have plenty in a day or so anyway. Building materials are tough also. Cash can be turned into whatever need they have. Much more fluid. And I promise to get it to the mayor and folks in charge with no overhead except the 3% charged by the credit card companies.

You got this old quakers word on that. its better than legal tender.

Too many villages got wiped out!

They need "Black-Zinc" roofing -- which is a thick corrugated tar paper
roofing material. Comes in packs -- 4 ft length. Very economic.

They need the small roofing nails for the above.

Not metal sheet roofing! (To long and heavy to back-pack or haul in a canoe)

They will eventually replace their roofs with "thatch".

They need rice and beans -- not tinned foods.

They need simple pots and pans -- and utensils -- pot spoons mainly.

They need machetes and files/stones to sharpen them with.

They need this all right away. Over 8000 of em.

They are already hard at work. They can do their own thing -- just get them
those simple items above -- right away!

Do not get carried away with "fancy" stuff -- like gensets -- metal roofing
-- canned goods -- etc.

They need what I have listed above. And they need that "yesterday".
