My boyfriend and I are travelling to Belize over the Easter holiday and will be on a strict budget. I have heard that Belize, and especially Ambergris Caye, is not the best for budget travellers. We got a very inexpensive plane ticket so we thought we would wing it and see if we could make this an inexpenisive trip. We will be in Belize City for one night and the rest of the 5 nights will be spent in Ambergris Caye. Could someone tell me the best lodging, restaurants and sight seeing on a budget?

lodging: Pedro's Inn or Ruby's. You can eat at the local vendors. The BBQ chicken on the street is awesome and only $5-$7. Also, there are many local dives that sell excellent food dirt cheap! Mango's, split a delicious burrito - cheap.

Swim near the piers, walking during the day/night, laying out on the beach - any beach, chit chating with the amazing locals and friendly tourists - FREE!

Hey SS! All is good! I didn't bring home my China man. I guess he was here in my home town, playing ball. wink

I'll send you and Law a link to my pictures...

Take the water taxi to caye caulker for a day. Hang out at the split and Lazy Lizard. Water taxi is $35 US for the two of you.

Take the water taxi from Belize City also, it will save you some $$.

Instead of golf carts rent bikes for a couple of days and explore the island. I like them better than carts. They are better for my back. smile

Take at least one snorkle trip to Hol Chan. It will cost $50-60.

I liked TQs advise, just added a couple of things.
