I noticed in a previous post that someone mentioned taking a water taxi from Belize City to San Pedro, but I have not been able to find any information as to how to do that. I am traveling to Ambergris Caye in June, and wondered about the cost of the water taxi, how difficult with luggage, how to book, etc.? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

big fan of the water taxi here - take it over every trip - get a cab from the airport to the water taxi - buy your ticket there, can pay w/ visa, travlers checks or US cash - if ya have a bit of a wait stroll around and see what there is to see and enjoy a snack from one of the many kids selling them everywhere- never had a problem w/ the luggage - and we cart over a LOT!

I am going with two girlfriends. So, SimonB, is there a risk of the water taxi being full if we wait to buy a ticket? My concern is that our plane will land at 2:30 so we would need to take the 4:30 taxi to San Pedro. Also, how long does the ride take? Thanks so much for your help.

Sorry, I looked it up. It's only $15.00 each way for the ferry. A very good price for a fun if not educational boat ride for 1.5 hours trip. We will still fly over cuz we like the sites, but if you don't like small planes or would rather see some water, it will get you there safe and sound. Still, though, What does a private water taxi charge?Just might interest certain friends...It does get really rough out there at times between BC and SP..beware.

where did u look it up? $17.50 us but basically the same thing. $20 Us for the cab to get to it. If you are solo, you may as well fly. If a group, water taxi to save money.

Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association boats are US$15 one-way to San Pedro (75 minutes), US$10 to Caye Caulker (45 minutes). Cab fare from the airport to the Marine Terminal is now US$25, not $20.
