I've heard that Captain Morgan's hosts beautiful weddings. On tripadvisor.com, however, they have been getting terrible reviews saying that the staff is terrible, the place is becoming run-down, and that they don't stop bothering you about buying a timeshare. Others have had very good reviews, so if anyone could provide there imput, that would be great. I am planning my own destination wedding, and I need help! If we don't choose Captain Morgan's, we will probably get married at Victoria's House. We are also looking for another place to stay for a few days before the wedding that would be closer to town and be more affordable for some of my guests. I still want a nice resort for us all to stay at, but need some rooms to be less than $150/room/night. I am thinking about Sunbreeze. Any input on CM, sunbreeze, or others would be greatly appreciated! (We will have about 30 guests with us in early Dec. of 2007)

Consider The Blue Tang for your closer to town stay.
A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

I'll second the Blue Tang,it has a great location on the North edge of town, the Sun breeze can get loud some times depending on room location. I have stayed at Blue Tang last 4 trips & love it.
Mayan Princess is also nice, located about center of town.

What about Xanadu? I know it's not that close to town, but it is closer than VH and cheaper, but it still looks nice. Has anyone here stayed there? My only concern is that they don't have a restaurant or bar at the resort, which would be really nice and convenient to have. Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I think you would be happy with the Sun Breeze. That is a lot of guests and as nice as the Blue Tang is I don't think they could accommodate everyone. Also, it is right in town and everyone can wander to their hearts delight. They have a swimming pool, good restaurant and beach.
Captain Morgan’s is nice; I take my visitors their for lunch once during their stay. Time-share people just need to be told ‘NO’. If people act like they are interested they will be talked to. I have no problem with them there.
Good luck – and you are doing your homework well.

I don't see why they couldn't be accommodated easily at the Blue Tang. If they booked early enough they might get the entire resort to themselves, wouldn't that be fun?

The Blue Tang has 20 beds that will each hold two comfortably, not to mention pullouts. It is just a matter of whether any of their guests are willing to share a room.

We had a group of ten and really liked staying at Blue Tang and we also liked staying at Nellie's Paradise Villas. They are side by side. We were pleased with the units at both. Both had great staffs. I felt like we were in town as soon as we walked out to the street behind them...even though we were a little north of town in the e-brochures!
I think that I would be happy most everywhere in San Pedro!

Caye Management doesn't offer any facilities that will hold 30 people.

I am getting married at the Blue Tang Inn later in April and will have 39 guests in attendance (including myself and fiance). We have 30 guests staying at the Blue Tang Inn - we've filled the whole Inn up with just our guests which I think is going to be so much fun! Most of the other guests (all but 2) are staying at Paradise Villas which as 1BKeeper noted is right next to the Blue Tang Inn. The staff at Blue Tang have been extremely helpful.
