I am planning a trip to AC in mid-October, but have been advised that this is the rainy season. Can anyone tell me if this is a bad time to visit?

I was in AC in October 2004 for a week and it only rained part of one day. Just keep in mind, October is right in the middle of hurricane season.

I was there last October and will be going back again this October. Last year the first 8 days or so were fabulous, a few afternoons of clouds, very few showers, no real rain. After that I moved into Guatemala for a few days and by the time I'd made it back into San Ignacio, Hurricane Wilma was passing by the Cayes. I missed that, but heard there was a bit more bad weather around the Cayes (but not a direct hit or anything) because of it... mostly just higher winds, waves, etc... As long as the hurricanes stay away the weather is amazing.

Thanks, ya'll! I'm going to go ahead and book my trip. I live in the New Orleans area, and the threat of hurricane is at least as bad here when I'm parked right in my own house!

Probably safer in SP than NOLA! And, the beer & rum are better! No beignets but the fryjacks & johnnycakes more than make up for it.
