we are seeking information on the folks at hamanasi resort (approx 15 mi from dangriga), and info on how bad that area (and sittee river village) was hit. any info would be appreciated.

Hamanasi Dive & Adventure Resort in Hopkins, Stann Creek is open for business! Fortunately for Hopkins and Sittee River Villages, Hurricane Iris did not affect us much. We had evacuated our guests, but all of us returned the day following the hurricane. hamanasi@bellsouth.net

The owners of Hamanasi (which by the way is a terrific place) have sent e-mails explaining that except for some damage to their dock that the resort is in great shape. Guests were evacuated but are now back and some are out diving. I didn't hear specifically, but I'm assuming that the hotel's resident cats, who emigrated to Belize from Russia, are also fine.
