I am sure that there are plenty of things for you to bring. Patu told me that power was going to be out for a while... so anything that makes light (candles, batteries & flashlights), matches, lighters. Will speak again with PAtu this evening - one call for the day and try to see what else may be needed. But I am sure ANYTHING would be appreciated.

When I spoke to Mom last night, Kevin (Modera) was right there and pretty adamant that chain saws were needed immediately.

To clear the debris so that they can begin to rebuild the infrastructure. Particularly the electric.

Please, to anyone flying, if you have the new rules re: security issues & what you can & can't fly with ... although I'd imagine most stuff is fine as long as it is not carry-on. I know that lighters/matches not permitted, they never were, I've got two big BBQ lighters that Continental confiscated off of Mom when she left in July and Dwayne's pocket knife.

Coleman makes a battery operated lamp. Excellent little deal.

Speaking of those, we all know size C & D batteries normally power things like radios/ghetto blasters, flashlights & the like. We also know that those are expensive State-side, can't imagine the price of them down there.

another thing I thought of would be work gloves. Handling wood, metal roofing, and things shouldn't be done with bare hands. I am sure you can pick up batteries at a dollar store - and also the gloves. Soap, toiletries (feminine products), towels, eye contact solution, and all kinds of stuff at the $ 1 store.
