Hi

We are coming to Belize in May and just wanted to know which Caye is best for shell collecting.
Also is it the season. Here the season is actually more around Easter. By now the rains have started to come so the shells get broken along the way.

PS we don't dive/snorkel. I'm talking about beach combing here

If you come to Ambergris Caye, take a trip to the north end of the Island. My Mother Shelley loves beachcombing and we go to Basil Jones near the end of the island to Beach Comb. You can take a full day tour to Mexico Rocks that include a beach BBQ. While the food is being prepared take a walk and you will find many shells, pomice stones and beautiful driftwood.

In Town you won't find many shells along the beach.

In town if you want just small jewelry type shells the best place seems to be along the beach from Hustler dock to Patojo's dock. Down by Caribbean Villas also has a lot of washed up coral and small shells.

Lots of shells and coral up north of caye. Rocky point is like a home depot, You can find all kinds of neat stuff there. Just make sure you don't try to bring home any of the plastic "flour" bundels that sometimes float in.
