For all that missed it the race was a good one. It brought a lot of excitement to a usual boring sunday afternoon. Unfortunately I had to work but was there on my lunch break to see the first bunch of Kayakers come in. Libra the champ from last year showed great sportsmanship! He dislocated his shoulder on the first day of the race and still finished it the following day in the top four!
Simon, have any idea where they are posting the final results? I know Jambels came in first, Seaside Surf Guru sixth, the two Ramons teams inbetween there somewhere, and thats all I know.
My favorite dive operator, Everette Anderson and his Brother Darrell got the good sportsmanship award! They trekked their leaking kayak the miles across the north end then went back and helped a lone guy who couldn't get his canoe through. They still don't know why their kayak kept filling up with water. When I talked to them about checking out these things they said they were not given the same kayak that they had used to practice. All in all, what a great event! I don't k now the exact number but I heard there were over 40 vessels entered. I eagerly await more details on this wonderful event. Simon - thanks for the photos!
