It's a Sunday, and I thought it would be interesting to know a little more about our backgrounds and opinions, because of the commitment I see displayed in many discussions.

Sometimes I feel people get annoyed by newer members, that don't know the whole story, and of course there are a lot of different opinions about what the future of Ambergris Caye should look like.

It is obvious some business owners defend their interests, but there can also be an other reason for this commitment; I think the boarders here are more intelligent then average, and this sometimes causes the great minds to collide.

To find out I made a poll with the following 4 questions:
When did you first come to Ambergris Caye?
What do you think about Ambergris Caye and its future?
What is your interest in Ambergris Caye?
How would you rate your IQ?

When did you first come to Ambergris Caye?
single choice

More than 30 years ago. (2%, 2 Votes)

What do you think about Ambergris Caye and its future?
single choice
There shouldnt be more development; just improvement. (28%, 26 Votes)
New development should be more affordable. (5%, 5 Votes)
New development should be more exclusive. (3%, 3 Votes)
More progress either way will bring better opportunities. (38%, 35 Votes)
Unfortunately it had changed too much already. (25%, 23 Votes)

By some of them I obviously meant one in particular.

Want me back in, on discussion of the North.
Time to work behind the scenes, and push when in town, as the questions worked up, seem to be a little one sided, for a result that they are looking for.

Corona Steve, I did also have you in mind when I worked the Ambergris Caye future question, but tried to put it in a neutral way (C'est le ton qui fait la musique). Aren't you the discussion of the North?

Corona Steve's questions should have read..
1.Do you think a road should go all the way to Mexico...SOON?
2.Should a bridge to Mexico be built?
3.Should the "powers that be" run electricity to my 6.6 acres?
4.Can you spell CAT?
5. Would you support a Basil Jones International Airport? laugh

I'm amazed that, as of right now, over half of the respondents rate their IQ above 120. Maybe Jimmy G should start a MENSA chapter at Coco's Boatyard where boarders could meet to discuss spelling and sentence structure smile

According to their website, a MENSA candidate has to score in the top 2% of any standard IQ test.

Since the poll here only requires one to rate oneself in the top 2%, I guess we all could qualify for the Coco's Boatyard chapter laugh

An IQ score of 120 or higher only puts you in the top 10% of the population not the top 2%.
-----------------------------------------
IQ Description % of Population
130+ Very superior 2.2%
120-129 Superior 6.7%
110-119 High average 16.1%
90-109 Average 50%
80-89 Low average 16.1%
70-79 Borderline 6.7%
Below 70 Extremely low 2.2%
___________________________________________

A MENSA candidate should have mastered spelling and sentence structure by the eighth grade. I believe what we have is not a group of people who have superior intelligence. We have a group of people composed of those with superior intelligence and those who believe they have superior intelligence.

There's also the DENSA test, to calculate the lack of mental acumen.

I'm "normal but distracted". I guess I should have waited to take the test until after I woke up from my nap.
