Down south of San Pedro we really do appreciate a new local bar and want to support it so that we don't have to stagger so far to have a good night.
We visited the Sandbar (AKA Fidos 2) for the second time today and I have to say that the food was really good and different to other places.
Even better is that they have live Reggae on tonight with Lyrical King who is actually quite talented.
With good food, a huge pool and (not sure about this) - bowling on the beach- I strongly recommend that you visit - if only to give us Southsiders a new local to be proud of.

I cannot wait for the weather to improve. i have tried the food, it is very good. The staff are efficient and friendly and the service very personal. I live next door and watch the changes on a daily basis. as a Belizean I can now visit a place which does not just favour tourists. It is for 'all a we'!

Does this mean that one can't get a decent pizza at Pedro's anymore?

Beachboy, Did you change jobs? I thought you made pizzas at the backpak inn. Did you take your special pizza recipe to Fidos sandbar? (Fidos 2)

I am sure you can find the best pizza in town still at Pedro's Inn. The chef had a good mentor.
2milesnorthofcut and Seashell I am now at the Sand Bar where we will be doing pizza's soon but they will not be exactly the same as at Pedro's. I am not at liberty to say now exactly what we will be doing but it will be different to say the least.
I would not in any way wish to affect Pedro's business adversely and do not consider it appropriate to do so.
I am currently concentrating on the Sunday BBQ market, again doing something very different. Mango Blackened Jumbo Shrimp, Brandied Lobster as well as Traditional Marinated Chicken to start with.
I have it from the horses mouth that BC's will be stopping BBQ shortly and they will be having our menu's at BC's South certainly.
I believe in working alongside other businesses and not in direct competition. We all have our own market and that is that. I have more than my hands full here getting this place off the ground to start playing silly games unless someone else starts it.
My customers are my concern and not other businesses.
Deacon point taken on board and under consideration.

KLC, I don't think many people could afford the "delivery charge" , Beachboy, It sounds like you have good business morals. Good luck in your latest venture, I feel you may suceed. We will make our way to fidos 2 next time we are down to visit. Sorry to read about BC'S discontinuing the BBQ, We always enjoyed going there. Looks like we will just have to motor on a little farther south to get our BBQ fix on sundays.

2Miles - if you decide to embark on this little business venture please be sure and let me know. I have no interest in pizza while in Belize, but I can think of a couple of other things I'd like delivered!

I don't know who the horses mouth is but your info on BC's is incorrect. BBQ will continue as planned, Charlene just took a break this weekend. That comes from the owner.

I'm trying to get a picture of where this new place is...can anyone give me something more definitive than "Down South of San Pedro"; seems to me that covers quite a bit of territory.

There may have been some truths to the BC rumors, however, none of it should be made public until it is fact and Charlene decided to do so!

And Charlene was quite adamant on Sunday afternoon that such was not the case and asked if anyone knew who was starting the rumour. I did not initiate the conversation and was not aware of any such rumour until she approached me.
It may be an idea to contact Charlene for clarification and let her make any announcement if there is any to make.

Beachboy there seems to be much confusion about your post perhaps you should consult with Pedro {as he seems to be a expert on everything} about what end of the horse the mouth is located

Since there was no BC's BBQ this past Sunday, did anyone go to this Fido's S. place? Looked like you would need to go through 100' or so feet of stinky swamp to get there by road. I don't know if there's another entrance. I realize it's not their fault but a place does need access to get business.
I have no idea why BC's cancelled their normal Sun BBQ. Sure confused my boring routine. I guess only the owners would know. Been an institution here for the past 12 or so years. Hope it's only temporary.

unfortunatly, cleaning up the road is not a concept they seem to get. Most of their business will come by road and it is a major turn off! Why invest in pizza ovens, fun nights etc. if you don't address the basics???

Pedro1 please reread my earlier post and please advise with regard to which end of the horse the mouth is located. I respect your advice as we both know that you are in fact the ultimate expert on all matters even if others do not agree.
Cracked Up there seems to be some confusion, did I read correctly that there was no BBQ on Sunday?
Lovey and Thurston the road and entrance being addressed but 90 or so persons managed to get there. There is no water if the other entrance is used via the resort.
The whole island is a swamp at the moment. I understand that even tractors are getting stuck at the far south end.

As a member of the BC's fanclub and having attended the BBQ pretty much every Sunday for the past six years, I noticed that Charlene took a well deserved break last Sunday. Not such a big deal, since it is pretty slow around here right now. Still the best (quantity, price and taste) BBQ I have ever had.
Beachboy, I am sure you mean well and I wish you luck, but maybe you should chill for a while and let things come to you instead of hyping your things so much.
This just as a support to Charlene (and Bruce) for all the good times (and food) they have delivered to my friends and I for many years. Even my mother who visited here four years ago still talks about BC's BBQ. Keep it up Charlene. You're one of the originals. Don't let 'em mess with you!

I am probably one of BC's Bar-b-que's biggest fans. There is no barbie today, nor was there any last weekend and the week before there were no ribs (my favorite.)
Looks like Charlene is taking a little break.
I hope it isn't forever....
Pedro's Inn pizzas are still being enjoyed by many.
I am looking forward to visiting the Sandbar and eating some yummy barbeque ribs as soon as they are ready to be served!
And I think that Lovey should be the first Tequila queen!!

Can't I call my order in ahead??
I'm not a beach bar going kind of person these days, but I am still addicted to barbeque. We usually pick up our food and run home.
I'll pop in on a quieter occasion and say hi.
Cheers
