Ian Anderson's group has now established 13 field kitchens. Food is being
supplied from the benefit from Saturday night and other private donations.
The immediate problem right now is shelter and bedding for the 38 volunteers
working w/ Ian's crew.

San Pedro Hardware has offered to donate zincs to repair some buildings,
which would help, and maybe solve, the shelter problem for the short term.

The next objective would be to get some sort of bedding, as in cots, to the
volunteers who are sleeping on the ground at the moment. If ANYONE can help
us get Army surplus or any other type of cots shipped down, please let us
know. These will have to be shipped directly to British Airport Camp, who
will forward via truck to their outpost near Ian's operation. That's how we
assure that it goes directly to the workers.

I will get the address or how to ship to the British Airport Camp momentarily

Looks like we might be able to solve the bedding problem for the
volunteers for the short to mid term, but surely we could use bedding
over the long haul to leave behind. Shipping from Houston might be a
good option, as a freight truck comes down once a month.

Marty, what about hamacas? Canvas cots might be OK in storage, but stuff mildews something awful in that environment.

I am coming in to Belize through Miami airport bringing supplies in next week. Any suggestions on going through Belize customs with relief equipment without getting charged high customs fees?

Very good question, Beverly! I am coming this Thursday with medical supplies. Would be nice if I didn't get gouged in customs. Marty, any suggestions? Thanks, Kim Matson

It is possible to get relief items into Belize duty-free. For details
regarding your shipment and how to handle it,
contact...<[email protected]>. If Patty doesn't reply personally, her
office administrator, Ms. Sabido, will give you instructions. Be sure to
allow 2-3 days for the processing of paperwork before you depart
(remember, that's Belize time). Patty is on the mainland helping with
relief efforts.

Also, their fax # from the states is: 011 501 26 2938
