How can we send money to specific persons in Belize? We would like to mail money but can we send American Express Money Orders or Cashier's Checks? Can they cash them at the bank? Will the post office be able to find the person we want to send money to? Please anyone reply.

A lot of people use Western Union to send money to people in Belize. There are Western Union offices in all Belize towns and even in some villages.

I would NOT send cashier's checks -- these are like cash and cannot be replaced if stolen.

If the person you are sending money to has a bank account, you can have the money wired directly to the account.

I send $$$ quite a bit via Western Union to Placencia... (it's been in received in Mango Creek for a while too)... not sure when it would be up an running again... but your best bet would be to send to Belize City - as from there - the person on the other end can pick up anywhere in country as long as they have the MTCN (pass number). The closest place would be Dangriga I think.
