Smoky passed on a few days ago. He was is the hospital thanks to the generosity of Jenny & Zoby. I know most everyone on this board knows him so what can I say. He was my friend.
Free at last?

frown Yes, I think he is. I met Smokey in April 1992. Every time I have visited San Pedro (30!) he has always remembered me and we would talk. Jim, do know where he was born, raised, etc.? Anything about his life?
He wasn't Paisano but close....
Mucho thanks to Jenny and Zoby.

How sad. My husband and I will miss him not being on the streets and at The Pier Lounge. The orange peel on his head. May he rest in peace.

He had been sick on and off for a while now. Was much better! Not going to be the same going to the Spindrift and not seeing him either on a golfcart or out on the pier...or handing out flyers for chicken drop...or telling you the dinner specials at Caliente...or just being fun. I'll miss him terribly. His memorial is either Mon or Tues, Zoby is suppose to call and let me know. His ashes will be spread out at sea. Good bye to a wonderful friend and may God look after you now.

I first met Smoky in '99. We spoke a few times during my trip a couple of months ago. I wasn't sure that he actually recognized me. He claimed he knew me, but when I would see him next, he didn't seem to remember that I'd just spoken to him the day before or even half an hour before. I was worried about him. He really didn't look too good. It's sad. He's also blessed to have such good friends to care for him.

Over the years, I've had some pretty interesting conversations with him. He was a character. May he rest in peace.

Does someone have pics of him? I can't picture who it was--perhaps I've not been enough to see him.
