I mentioned in another thread that I'll be visiting Belize for the first time at the end of this year. For those of you who live in Belize or have visited Belize, what would be the 4-5 items that you would make absolutely sure you brought with you, other than the obvious - clothes, passport, camera, etc.

Thanks for any advice. Learning from my own mistakes is always an interesting adventure, but I'll take any 'insider' information that I can get.

1. Sense of Adventure 2. Sense of Humor (things don't always go like you think they should or want) 3. Love of life 4. Headache meds for after you've had too much of the "Best of Belize".
oh and probably some sort of Deet if you're going to be in the jungles. Not sure about the bug pop. during that time, but it helps in the summer.

I would suggest a bit of a base tan, even if it comes from a tanning salon, if you're coming from Montana. A bad sunburn after a day of snorkeling can be miserable. I'm not a doctor (nor did I ever play one on tv) but I have to believe that a little time in the tanning booth is much less harmful than a bad sunburn. (and it can happen in a hurry)

I've already told you more than I know.

every time someone asks this my answer is the same:

ZIPLOCS.

multi use in all sizes. to bring home wet bathing suits & sandy flip flops, store hot sauce & rum (ha, mine leaked and didn't mess up all my stuff), for seashells, keep your cash in them when toolng around (wallets, backpacks & pockets WILL get wet on a boat, and you will at one time or another be on a boat there), keep your shampoo/sunscreen in one, i've seen them leak all over a suitcase, i could go on and on....

drug store items are pricy there. i am a just-in-case girl, i bring advil, benedryl cream, neosporin, band-aids, immodium & pepto, etc. my ex thought i was nuts, but he was damn glad i had them, as he used them all.

have fun.

oh gosh, and yes snorkel, A HAT IS A MUST. 2 bottles of bug stuff, you will most likely need it at dusk & dawn.
