This question is for Lan, Marty or anyone else that may know.
I have a friend that wants to visit around December and he wants to be in the rainforest. Isn't there a program or deal in the Toledo district where you can spend some time with a Mayan family and learn how they live? I know I read about it in a guide book once....just can't remember the name. Can someone help jog my memory?

There are two or three different programs. Probably the best organized one is the Toledo Ecotourism Association, which arranges stays in one of 10 participating Maya villages. You stay in a basic but clean guest house, usually with an outhouse and without electricity, then visit Maya homes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tel. 011-501-72-2680. It's easy to arrange one of these stays after you arrive in Punta Gorda.
