A group of friends are joining my husband and me aboard the Nekton Pilot for a week of diving. We are then planning to stay at the Chateau Caribbean and go river tubing with Ian Andersons Caves Branch Tours. Do we need to alter any of these plans or does anyone have additional suggestions? Thanks for any information you can offer.

Chateau Caribbean wouldn't be my first choice in Belize City, or even my third or fourth. It has very nice public rooms (used for scenes in a couple of movies shot in Belize) but the guest rooms need some work. Of course, if you're getting a dirt-cheap rate, it would be okay. And the location is very good.

But for quality accommodations, I would rate the Radisson, Great House, Colton House and Four Fort Street above the Chateau Caribbean.

Ian Anderson's is great for adventuresome travelers.
