I really need some help. With so much information available on the web, I think I am getting information overload!
My girlfriend and I are athletic, adventurous people and are looking for a non-resort experience in Belize. We just learned scuba, and will be spending 10 days in Belize just after Thanksgiving.
I am looking for a local who can give us the inside scoop on the best things to do with our limited time. Can anyone help us?
We would like to split our time between a jungle experience with some archeological significance (one day with an archeologist would be cool) and an unhurried scuba experience. We are both very friendly and like the idea of staying at smaller, more rustic places (romance!) or at some local's spare room.
I have heard so much about Belize, and I am really excited by the thought that we will be able to visit. I have heard that Ian Anderson's Jungle Lodge has some good tours (anyone know anything about them?) and that there is some of the best scuba in the world in Belize.
We would like to find those places that tourists don't generally know about and avoid the noise of civilization.
I have been following the news of the Hurricane and my prayers go out to the families that have been effected. I know it will take some time to get things back to normal, but does anyone know anything about the damage and if there is anywhere that we should avoid?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to
[email protected] if you can help us.
Thanks so much!!!
Warmest regards,
Barry
