Could someone please give a status report on Caye Caulker - utilities, phones, school, repairs/rebuilding, food/water, mail, clinic/medical /relief supplies.....??? THX

I can answer a few of your questions. I just returned from Caye Caulker. Electricity, phone and water have been restored to the front of the island. The internet cafe on Front Street is back up and running like before. Many guesthousesand hotels are open, as are many eateries. The stores have food, etc. the clean up is well underway. The island is getting back on track and really could use the business generated from tourism. Don't be afraid to go to Caye Caulker, you will be treated like a celebrity, believe me!

Thanks for the compliment. One other thing to note, many places have temporary phone numbers and the old phone number will just ring and ring. One way to get a message to Caye Caulker is to email it to cayecaulker1@hotmail.com that's the internet cafe on Front Street. Moran, the owner is posting messages on a community message board that he has just started. SO, hopefully that will help.
