No, but I just got back from Robert's Grove and that is the place to go. Excellent service and beautiful location.

Would just note that Inn at Robert's Grove is one of only four resorts/lodges on the mainland that earned five stars in my new Guide to Mainland Belize (the other three are Chaa Creek, Blancaneaux and Chan Chich.)

Comparing Carol's Cabanas and Robert's Grove is like comparing Belize and Montana. Robert's Grove is a full-service seaside resort north of Placencia Village on the Placencia Peninsula. Carol's Cabanas is a small, mom and pop run operation in the heart of Placencia Village. The cabins at Carol's are small and clean, but not on the beach. They're back by the road - the drawbacks to the location are no seaview and early morning road noise. If you're an early riser, the road noise shouldn't be a problem. Carol's is good value for the money - - so is Robert's Grove, but in a completely different way.

I guess I didn't make it clear what I was asking - I don't want to know about other lodging; we want to stay in the village, beach view isn't a priority, we will be there for two weeks to research building a winter home on property we have bought in the village. So we need a relatively inexpensive place to stay with complete kitchen facilities. We will probably do some "tourist" activities, but this isn't our primary reason for being there. Thanks for any info about "Carol's Cabanas".

re: Blancanaux Lodge, has anyone actually stayed there and have a positive/negative response to the accommodations/location?

Are you asking about Blancaneaux Lodge in the Pine Ridge or Blancaneaux's Turtle Inn in Placencia?

Mymeka

WE are booked at Blancaneaux in February, I have heard only good comments about it.
Would be glad to let you know about it after our trip.
